Legislative Day

The CA/HI State Conference NAACP hosted its annual Legislative Day on Monday, May 17th, 2021. Historically the event is held in person and members from across the state have the opportunity to walk through the halls of the Capitol and advocate for the NAACP’s priority bills, however, for the first time ever, the event was virtual! Over 200 members of the NAACP from across California and Hawaii participated in the day and over 50 legislators and their staff attended.

Legislators and their staff heard from NAACP members about priority legislation, ranging from criminal justice reform, hiring practices, access to the internet and more. By participating in Legislative Day our California NAACP youth left with a strong understanding of lobbying their position and how to advocate for real change within their communities.

Thank you to our special guest Attorney General Rob Bonta and all California Legislators that joined the CA/HI NAACP Annual Legislative Day.

The path to justice requires that we challenge federal, state and local laws, statutes and policies to ensure equal protection.

Legislative Day would not have been possible without the support from our local CA/HI NAACP branches. Thank you to our Branches and attendees for your strong show of support!
