Cancel Student Debt

Cancel Student Debt

Millions of people, including African Americans and people of color,  across America have experienced hardship due to the impact of student loan debt. Given the current economic climate and instability of employment opportunities during and post the COVID-19 pandemic, the urgency to solve the student loan crisis is more pertinent than ever. There is an opportunity to work together to urge the Biden Administration to take action through the 50k and Beyond Cancel Student Debt campaign led by the NAACP

We are pushing for the following to happen nationwide:

  • $50,000.00 student loan forgiveness for qualifying loan holders
  • End all interest on student loan repayments
  • Reduce the timeline for student loan forgiveness programs for Federal employees, non-profit workers, and veterans from 10 years to 3 years
  • New student loan forgiveness programs for frontline/essential workers affected by COVID-19
  • Other student loan and forbearance modifications centered on wealth generation for low- and moderate-income loan holders to lower debt to income ratios

Temporary student debt relief  as a result of COVID-19 is set to expire on September 30th, 2021. It is critical that we act now, as a collective, to potentially change the economic future of people in our community  who would otherwise be set back by the enormous burden of student loan debt.

Please take action by:

  • Signing the petition, calling on the Biden Administration to cancel 50K of federal student loans
  • Posting and sharing graphics calling on the Biden Administration to prioritize eliminating 50K of federal student loans
